More than just a winter playground, Thredbo is a resort for all seasons. Set within the unspoiled Kosciuszko National Park in South East NSW, Thredbo offers year round activities to keep everyone busy.
There are plenty of reason’s why snow-lovers have dubbed Thredbo their favourite alpine resort, and here are just a few:
Giant new purpose built beginner area Thredbo’s latest addition to the mountain is the designated beginner area adjacent to Friday Flat. The new “first timer only” area allows beginner riders the freedom to learn the ropes with more room to move away from other skiers and boarders. The specifically designed slope is the perfect learning gradient for first timers to master their technique down the easy slope.
Famous village at base of mountain There is something very special about Thredbo’s village, it has a classic European mountain feel, with an enchanting touch of alpine Australia. Just unclick your riding gear and step into the bustling hub that makes Thredbo the number one destination for alpine shopping, bar hopping, dining and dancing.
Indoor sports centre with warm pool If you like it fun, fit and first-class then check out the Thredbo Leisure Centre, it’s an activity and fitness hot spot in the Snowy Mountains. With a fully equipped gym, 50m Olympic size heated swimming pool and tailored gym classes and water slide. This first class centre even plays host to a number of high profile sporting teams and athletes, so you could be lapping it up with a gold medalist or working out with a world champ.
In summer, Thredbo blends a unique mountain environment with cultural events and activites. You can take a walk by the Thredbo River and discover the fascinating wildlife, or wet a line and test your skill at fly fishing. For a bit of an adventure catch the chairlift that operates all year round then stroll to the top of Australia and if you’re after some heart racing action, jump on a mountain bike and take a thrilling 6.2km blast down the infamous Cannonball Run.
The Village has a cosmopolitan feel and is dotted with wonderful art works and architecture. You can relax in one of the many cafes and bars and listen to vibrant live music as it fills the alpine air.
