Celebrate with Jindabyne – Everyone is Invited Friday 19th December
The town of Jindabyne would like to invite everyone to join in the celebrations and attend the official day and celebrate across the weekend.
When the Snowy Scheme planned to dam the Snowy River to form Lake Jindabyne, the residents had to move from the Old Town of Jindabyne to the present location, 1km up the hill.
On December 19th 1964 the Governor of NSW declared the New Town open.
On December 19th 2014 the town of Jindabyne will re-enact the ceremony with the Governor of NSW, His Excellency General the Honourable David John Hurley attending to celebrate the 50th Anniversary and unveil a new plaque commemorating the 50th anniversary.
The town is throwing a party in the Town Centre including a Long Lunch, Street Parade, 50th Official Ceremony in the Town Centre, a Civic Reception at Rydges Horizons and a Formal Dinner at Rydges Horizons 8pm. There will be continued celebration across the weekend.
